Nutrition Ramblings - Changing Eating Habits
When I first started out eating alkaline electric, I used to moan and complain to myself, and whomever else would listen, about the handful of foods I could eat from as outlined on the recommended Food Guide. Now, I realize that this was my own narrow view of available foods based on what I could find in my supermarket.
If we look into it carefully, we'll find that the Guide covers several families of foods. Mushrooms, for example: of the over 10,000 varieties, only one is not recommended to eat. Take a look at berries: there are over 6,000 types good to eat. Seeded melons: hundreds out there. And there are others on the guide like this.
I have also found that the Guide does more for us than provide a set of nutritional foods:
- We get to learn about all manner of foods we would perhaps not have even tried out in our entire life.
- We have rediscovered old ways of preparing and storing our foods.
- We also get to participate in the joy of 'hunting' for our food (you'll know what I mean if you try shopping for the Guide's food items).
- We have started "going to market" for food fresh from farmers.
- We have started to plant our own foods again.
- We look around at rejected weeds and see nutrition.
- We get to explore thousands of nutritious foods nature has provided and re-acquaint ourselves with the abundance of the earth and natural ways.
The longer we walk on this path, the clearer our minds become and the clearer our self-rediscovery is. We are reawakening and walking back to whom we really are.
Now, instead of saying to myself, "what will I have to eat today?", I now say, "what will I have to nourish today?" Try it.
